TLDR A few users dominate Reddit discussions on JAK inhibitors, highlighting social media's potential for tracking drug safety but needing expert oversight.
This study analyzes Reddit conversations about Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitors, focusing on how patient experiences and concerns are shared online. Using graph modeling and large language models, researchers examined data from 2011 to 2024 to identify key influencers and the spread of information, both accurate and misleading, within Reddit communities. The findings reveal that a small number of users drive most discussions, which often center on major health topics. The study highlights the potential of using social media for real-time pharmacovigilance while emphasizing the need for expert oversight when evaluating health information shared online.
