Comparative Evaluation of Hair Density Between Androgenic Alopecia and Normal Scalp in Pakistani Population

The study compared hair density between healthy males and those with androgenic alopecia (AGA) in a Pakistani population, involving 80 participants divided equally into two groups. Results showed that individuals with AGA had significantly lower hair density at both the frontal and parietal regions compared to the control group. Specifically, the hair density in the frontal region was 34.8 in the AGA group versus 73.1 in the control group, and in the parietal region, it was 45.1 versus 63.85, respectively. Overall, the normal population had a hair density of 160.25, while the AGA group had 98.75, with a significant p-value of 0.02. The study concluded that hair density and loss patterns vary among different ethnic populations and decrease with age.
