Comparison of The Efficacy and Safety of Topical 2% Minoxidil and 5% Minoxidil Solution in Fingernail Growth Rate

A study involving 30 participants compared the efficacy and safety of 2% and 5% topical minoxidil solutions on fingernail growth. Participants applied the solutions twice daily, and nail growth was measured at weeks 4 and 8. Results showed that the 2% minoxidil solution led to a greater nail growth rate (3.32 ± 0.63 mm) compared to the 5% solution (2.88 ± 0.50 mm) and placebo (2.87 ± 0.08 mm) at week 8, with a significant p-value of 0.002. No side effects were observed, indicating that 2% topical minoxidil is effective and safe for accelerating nail growth.
