TLDR The dermaroller caused less hyperpigmentation and no itching compared to the fractional CO2 laser.
The study compared complications arising from two treatments for post-acne scars: dermaroller and fractional CO2 laser, involving 200 patients divided into two groups of 100 each. Both treatments were administered every four weeks over 24 weeks. Results showed that hyperpigmentation occurred in 6 patients treated with the dermaroller and 9 patients treated with the fractional CO2 laser. Itching was not observed as a complication in the dermaroller group, whereas a small percentage of patients in the fractional CO2 laser group experienced itching due to scab peeling post-treatment.
