TLDR The dog fully recovered after treatment for skin and tick-borne infections.
A 5-year-old female German shepherd was diagnosed with contact dermatitis and concurrent infections of babesiosis and ehrlichiosis after presenting with lethargy, skin infection, and a history of reduced activity and anorexia. The dog had been previously treated unsuccessfully by an unlicensed veterinarian. Clinical examination revealed alopecia, erythema, and mild tick infestation. The diagnosis was confirmed through clinical and laboratory findings. The dog received parenteral treatment for the infections and topical therapy for dermatitis, resulting in full recovery.
