TLDR High Demodex mite levels are linked to severe hair loss.
This study investigated the role of Demodex mites in hair loss among 520 patients in Tehran, revealing that 66.15% were infested with these mites. The majority of those affected were women (83.43%) and most were aged 25.4 to 39.2 years. The study found a significant correlation between the severity of hair loss and the density of Demodex infestation, suggesting that a high density of these mites is a significant factor in severe hair loss.
