TLDR Patients with skin disorders face higher risks of complications in facial cosmetic surgery.
This review highlights the increased risk of complications in facial cosmetic surgery for patients with pre-existing dermatologic disorders, such as acne, atopic dermatitis, and frontal fibrosing alopecia, among others. An analysis of 53 articles involving 469 patients revealed that procedures like rhinoplasty and microneedling often resulted in complications ranging from mild exacerbations to severe scarring and wound healing issues. The study underscores the importance of considering these conditions during surgical planning to minimize risks, despite the current literature being limited to case reports and small series.
