TLDR Patients with skin disorders face higher risks of complications in facial cosmetic surgery.
This systematic review highlights the increased risk of complications in facial cosmetic surgery for patients with pre-existing dermatologic disorders. Analyzing 53 articles involving 469 patients, the study found that procedures like rhinoplasty and microneedling often led to complications such as disease exacerbation and scarring. Conditions like acne, frontal fibrosing alopecia, and systemic lupus erythematosus were common among patients. The review emphasizes the need for careful planning and consideration of dermatologic conditions to minimize risks in facial surgery.
