TLDR There is a need for better treatments for severe alopecia areata.
A cross-sectional survey of dermatologists in Taiwan revealed that the severity of alopecia areata (AA) in adults is not solely determined by the extent of scalp hair loss (SHL). Many dermatologists expressed that there is an unmet need for effective treatments, particularly for severe cases of the disease. This indicates a gap in current therapeutic options and highlights the necessity for developing more comprehensive treatment strategies for AA.
