TLDR 37.4% of dermatology theses in Türkiye were published, mainly in high-impact journals, with publication linked to the thesis year.
This study analyzed 321 dermatology theses from Türkiye, registered between 2018 and 2022, to assess their publication rates and influencing factors. It found that 37.4% of these theses were published, with 78.3% appearing in SCI/SCI-Expanded indexed journals. The median time to publication was 2 years, with a median citation count of 2. Factors such as thesis year, authors' and supervisors' publication records, and supervisors' h-index significantly influenced publication outcomes. The study concludes that the academic experience and publication performance of authors and supervisors are crucial in converting theses into scientific publications.
