TLDR Dermatophytoses are common fungal infections treated with antifungal medications, but resistance is a concern.
Dermatophytoses were prevalent worldwide, especially in tropical and subtropical regions, and were among the most common fungal infections. Symptoms included depigmentation, annular plaques, itching, and hair loss, with lesions like tinea caused by fungi from the genera Microsporum, Trichophyton, and Epidermophyton. Treatment typically involved topical and/or systemic antifungal medications, but this led to issues such as the development of multidrug-resistant species. The review focused on the epidemiological aspects, clinical importance, causes, prevention, treatment, and prognosis of dermatophytoses.
