This study evaluated the efficacy of the 308 nm Excimer Laser in treating alopecia areata in 24 patients with 34 patches. The treatment involved twice-weekly sessions for 12 weeks, followed by a 3-month follow-up. Results showed that 13% of patches had an excellent response, 47% had a good response, 20% had a moderate response, and 20% had a poor response. Dermoscopic evaluation revealed that 27 patches showed signs of disease remission, such as reduced black dots and the appearance of short vellus hairs, while 7 patches showed no change. The study concluded that the Excimer Laser is an effective treatment for alopecia areata, and dermoscopy is valuable for assessing treatment response and side effects.
