TLDR Accurate diagnosis of facial skin tumors requires detailed analysis to distinguish between benign and malignant types.
This document discusses a case report of a 54-year-old female with desmoplastic trichoepithelioma, a rare benign skin tumor that can resemble basal cell carcinoma. The lesion, located on the patient's face, presented with features such as a brownish plaque, dark pigmentation, irregular outline, pearly sheen, and telangiectasias. Due to its clinical and histopathological similarities to malignant tumors, differentiating it from basal cell carcinoma can be challenging. The report emphasizes the importance of histopathological and immunohistochemical analyses in confirming the diagnosis of the desmoplastic variant of trichoepithelioma.
