TLDR Accurate diagnosis of facial skin tumors requires detailed analysis to distinguish between benign and malignant types.
Desmoplastic trichoepithelioma is a rare benign skin tumor that resembles basal cell carcinoma, making diagnosis challenging. This case report discusses a 54-year-old woman with a facial lesion that required histopathological and immunohistochemical analyses for accurate diagnosis. The study highlights the importance of these analyses in distinguishing between benign and malignant tumors, particularly for the desmoplastic variant of trichoepithelioma.
