Diagnosis And Treatment Of Cushing's Syndrome In Dogs

TLDR Daily treatment eventually improved the dog's symptoms.
A toy poodle spontaneously developed Cushing syndrome, showing symptoms like systemic alopecia and increased abdominal girth. Initial tests indicated leukocytosis, hyperglycemia, and high plasma hydrocortisone levels. The dog was diagnosed with ACTH-dependent bilateral adrenal hyperplasia. An initial unilateral adrenalectomy did not alleviate symptoms, so o, p'-DDD was administered. After six weekly doses failed to reduce hydrocortisone levels, daily administration for 10 days led to anorexia and oliguria, prompting treatment suspension. Two weeks later, hair growth resumed, and hematological symptoms improved.
