It usually occurs 2 to 4 months after triggers like stress, weight loss, iron deficiency, or thyroid issues, and can also be medication-induced. The study suggests that after initial lab tests, waiting 3 to 6 months for spontaneous recovery is generally safe, as hair growth is slow. Persistent or distressing hair loss should be referred to a dermatologist for further evaluation and management.
