TLDR Dupilumab may help regrow hair in people with severe alopecia.
The document reported a case of a 49-year-old Caucasian female with a long history of alopecia areata (AA) and atopic dermatitis, who experienced significant hair regrowth after starting treatment with dupilumab, a monoclonal antibody initially approved for atopic dermatitis. Despite numerous previous treatments for her alopecia totalis (AT), including methotrexate and topical corticosteroids, she had little to no response. However, after beginning dupilumab for her atopic dermatitis, she achieved nearly complete hair regrowth. This case suggested that dupilumab might be a potential treatment option for patients with treatment-resistant AA, although its effects have varied in different cases.
