TLDR Dupilumab may help treat alopecia areata, but more research is needed.
This document discusses the potential use of dupilumab, an IL4 and IL13 receptor antagonist, for treating alopecia areata (AA), a chronic autoimmune condition affecting hair follicles. While dupilumab is primarily used for atopic dermatitis, case reports suggest it may also be effective for AA. A scoping review of PubMed articles found nine case reports supporting its efficacy in AA treatment, although one case noted an exacerbation of AA. The document highlights the need for further research into dupilumab's mechanism of action concerning the immune system in AA.
