TLDR The new gel for hair loss is safe, effective, and reduces side effects.
The study developed a dutasteride-loaded Insitu-emulgel for treating androgenetic alopecia, which enhances skin penetration, reduces dosage, and minimizes adverse effects. Dutasteride, an antiandrogen, inhibits 5α reductase, reducing dihydrotestosterone levels that contribute to hair loss. The Insitu-emulgel formulation, optimized using a central composite design, demonstrated controlled drug release, good viscosity, and high drug content (99.01%). It showed a 59.02% release over 6 hours, following non-Fickian transport. The formulation is skin-compatible, safe, and efficient, offering a promising alternative to traditional topical treatments. Further clinical research is ongoing to improve treatment efficacy and patient compliance.
