Early Onset of Central Centrifugal Cicatricial Alopecia in Pediatric Patients: An Underrecognized Diagnosis

A male in his early 20s with CCCA (scarring alopecia) started treatment with Finasteride, Fluocinolone, and Doxycycline. Steroid injections were suggested but not yet done.

A 27-year-old male with AGA and diffused thinning has been using oral Minoxidil, Finasteride, Vitamin D, B12, Iron, and Ketoconazole shampoo. Despite a hair transplant and improved blood levels, he continues to experience hair loss and suspects a possible misdiagnosis of Alopecia Areata Incognita.

A young female diagnosed with Lichen planopilaris (LPP) experienced years of misdiagnosis and ineffective treatments, including a hair transplant and other procedures. She is considering litigation due to the misdiagnosis and has learned that LPP is chronic, hair loss can be stopped with ongoing medication, but lost hair cannot regrow.

Hair loss can begin in early adolescence and cause mental anguish. Treatments mentioned include eating cruciferous vegetables, engaging in physical activity, and maintaining scalp hygiene.

A 15-year-old experiencing severe diffuse thinning plans to use minoxidil, dermarolling, and possibly ketoconazole, with hopes to later incorporate finasteride. Concerns about starting finasteride too young and the need for a dermatologist consultation are discussed.

A 16-year-old diagnosed with male pattern baldness (MPB) was prescribed hair vitamins, vitamin D, a non-ketoconazole shampoo, and redenysl + serum, with a suggestion for GFC or IHRF treatments. Some users recommended minoxidil, ketoconazole, and derma stamping, while others advised against certain treatments until the age of 18.
