Efeitos de diferentes doses do Minoxidil oral, em dois tempos de exposição, no complexo prostático de camundongos Balb/C
August 2024
TLDR Oral minoxidil affects prostate tissue but is less harmful than finasteride.
This study investigated the effects of oral minoxidil on the prostate of 120 adult Balb/C mice, divided into 6 groups, over 42 and 84 days. While finasteride, a known antiandrogenic drug, significantly reduced prostate weight and altered histomorphometric parameters, minoxidil also caused tissue disturbances, such as increased epithelial atrophy, apoptotic cells, and inflammatory infiltrates, along with changes in sex hormone profiles. However, the adverse effects were more pronounced in the finasteride group, indicating a higher risk to male reproductive health compared to oral minoxidil.
