TLDR Adding 7% chamomile extract to minoxidil reduces skin side effects in treating male hair loss.
This study investigated the effects of adding 7% chamomile extract to 5% minoxidil solution in treating Male Androgenetic Alopecia (MAA) and its associated cutaneous side effects. Conducted as a double-blind randomized clinical trial, 51 males received the combination treatment, while 49 controls used minoxidil alone. Over 6 months, both groups experienced reduced itching and scaling, but the chamomile group also saw a decrease in erythema, unlike the control group where erythema increased. The combination treatment resulted in lower overall side effects, suggesting that chamomile extract could enhance patient compliance and improve treatment outcomes for MAA.
