Topical finasteride as a potential alternative to oral finasteride for reducing DHT levels onthe scalp with fewer side effects, and other hair loss treatments such as minoxidil.
The conversation is about a 20-year-old male considering a topical gel combining finasteride, minoxidil, and tretinoin for hair loss, looking to replace his daily minoxidil with this new treatment. He has seen good regrowth with minoxidil but is nervous about starting finasteride.
Microneedling combined with 5% Minoxidil and finasteride significantly improves hair growth compared to using Minoxidil or Minoxidil with finasteride alone. The combination treatment is safe and effective, but further research is needed due to small sample size and short study duration.
The user experienced hair thinning due to a testosterone spike and used a minoxidil solution and topical finasteridegel. After four months, thegel caused side effects without improving hair thinning, leading to questions about continuing or adjusting thetreatment.
