TLDR Hairpieces improve quality of life for women with hair loss.
This study aimed to evaluate the impact of hairpieces on the quality of life (QOL) of female pattern hair loss (FPHL) patients using the Psychological Impact of Assistive Device Scale (PIADS). Twenty females with FPHL, who were using a hairpiece, were enrolled in this study. The results showed that hairpieces have a significant preferential effect on perceived QOL of FPHL patients, but their mental distress is intricately affected by factors other than hair loss severity. The study concluded that hairpieces are effective in improving the QOL of FPHL patients.
