TLDR Higher CD8+ T cell levels are linked to Alopecia areata in Iraqi patients.
The study investigated the role of CD8+ T cells in Iraqi patients with Alopecia areata, involving 45 patients and 45 healthy controls. Results showed significantly higher mean serum levels of CD8+ T cells in patients (323.7 ng/mL) compared to healthy controls (159.8 ng/mL), indicating a strong correlation between elevated CD8+ levels and the presence of Alopecia areata (P < 0.05). The study also noted that Alopecia areata is more prevalent in men than in women.
