The Effects of Radioactive Radiation on Plants

    S.G. Tedoradze
TLDR Radiation affects plant growth differently, with high doses being harmful, but some lower doses can increase yield.
Experiments on soybeans and beans exposed to radioactive radiation revealed that a dose of 12,000 r is lethal or harmful to soybeans, while 16,000 r is lethal to beans. Soybeans irradiated with 7,000 r showed normal development with some variations in shape, color, and yield, while beans exposed to doses between 5,000 and 12,000 r exhibited normal development and some progressive growth. Some plants ripened earlier or later than control plants, with yields 20-31% higher. The study highlights the varying effects of radiation on plant growth and development.
