The systematic review and meta-analysis of 7 randomized controlled trials found that autologous activated platelet-rich plasma (AA-PRP) significantly increased hair density in patients with androgenetic alopecia in the short term (≤3 months), with a mean difference of over 20 hairs/cm² compared to placebo or standard care. However, the efficacy of AA-PRP decayed exponentially over time. The study emphasized the importance of standardizing treatment protocols and identified factors like centrifugation force and activation method as potential moderators of treatment outcomes.
