TLDR Azelaic acid cream can effectively treat scalp hair loss.
The study evaluated the efficacy of topical azelaic acid 20% cream in treating scalp alopecia areata by comparing it to clobetasol propionate 0.05% cream in 30 patients. Over 12 weeks, both treatments significantly reduced the severity of alopecia, with azelaic acid showing acceptable efficacy. The results suggested that azelaic acid could be a viable therapeutic option for localized alopecia areata.
