TLDR CTP-543 effectively promotes hair regrowth in adults with moderate to severe alopecia areata.
The Phase 3 trial evaluated the efficacy of the oral JAK1/JAK2 inhibitor CTP-543 in 706 adult patients with moderate to severe alopecia areata. Participants were randomized to receive either a placebo, 8 mg BID, or 12 mg BID of CTP-543 for 24 weeks. The study found that both doses of CTP-543 significantly improved hair regrowth compared to placebo, with 29.6% of patients on 8 mg BID and 41.9% on 12 mg BID achieving a SALT score ≤20 at Week 24, versus 0.8% for placebo. Significant improvements were observed as early as 8 weeks. The results indicate that CTP-543 is effective in promoting hair regrowth in patients with moderate to severe alopecia areata.
