TLDR Human foreskin fibroblast–conditioned medium improved hair growth in androgenetic alopecia patients.
This pilot trial investigated the efficacy of human foreskin fibroblast–conditioned medium (HFF–CM) in treating androgenetic alopecia (AGA) in 14 patients, predominantly female, with a mean age of 34.8 years. The study involved four HFF–CM injections at 4-week intervals, with follow-ups over 6 months. Results showed significant improvements in hair density and structure, as measured by sonography and trichoscopy, and high levels of patient and physician satisfaction. The conditioned medium contained high levels of growth factors like IGF-1 and KGF/FGF-7. Despite promising results, the study suggests the need for larger-scale clinical trials with extended follow-up periods.
