TLDR Both hormonal and non-hormonal therapies improve hair growth in women, but non-hormonal methods may be more effective with fewer side effects.
The systematic review compares the efficacy of hormonal versus non-hormonal therapies in treating Female Pattern Hair Loss (FPHL). The study concludes that hormonal therapies, particularly those targeting androgen pathways, show a higher efficacy in promoting hair regrowth and reducing hair loss compared to non-hormonal treatments. The review highlights the importance of personalized treatment plans, considering individual patient profiles and the underlying causes of FPHL. The findings suggest that while non-hormonal therapies can be beneficial, hormonal treatments may offer more significant improvements for many patients.
