Comparison of Efficacy of Topical Tazarotene 0.1% Versus Topical Adapalene 0.1% in Treatment of Mild to Moderate Acne Vulgaris

A study involving 186 patients compared the efficacy of topical tazarotene 0.1% and topical adapalene 0.1% for treating mild to moderate acne vulgaris. Patients were divided into two groups, with Group A using tazarotene and Group B using adapalene, and were evaluated over 12 weeks. Initially, both groups had similar acne severity scores, but by weeks 8 and 12, Group A showed significantly greater improvement. All 93 participants in Group A experienced the desired effect, while only 70 out of 93 participants in Group B did. The study concluded that while both treatments were effective, tazarotene 0.1% was more efficacious than adapalene 0.1%.
