TLDR The topical solution improved hair density and appearance in men with androgenetic alopecia.
The study investigated the clinical efficacy and patient satisfaction of a topical compounded formulation containing minoxidil 10%, finasteride 0.1%, biotin 0.2%, and caffeine citrate 0.05% in treating male androgenetic alopecia. Conducted on five patients over 6 months, the treatment involved twice-daily application of the solution. Clinical evaluations, photographic assessments, and patient satisfaction surveys were conducted at 90, 120, and 180 days. By the end of the study, all patients showed moderate but noticeable improvements in hair density, scalp coverage, and overall hair appearance, with a global average hair density increase of +1.05. Despite initial neutral or negative satisfaction at 120 days, patients reported the treatment as effective after 3 and 6 months. The results suggested that the topical solution could be a safe and effective treatment option for male androgenetic alopecia.
