A Randomized Study of Eflornithine Cream Combined With Intense Pulsed Light Versus Intense Pulsed Light Treatment Alone for Hirsutism in Women

This study evaluated the efficacy of combining eflornithine cream with intense pulsed light (IPL) treatment for hirsutism in women. In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial involving 40 women, participants received IPL treatments every 4 weeks for 8 sessions and applied either eflornithine or placebo cream twice daily. Results indicated that the combination of eflornithine and IPL was significantly more effective, achieving almost complete hair removal in 95% of cases compared to 77% with IPL alone (P=0.021). The study concluded that adding eflornithine to IPL treatment led to a more rapid and complete reduction of unwanted facial hair in women.
