TLDR The emulgel with 11.5% oil and 1.75% gelling agent effectively delivers fluconazole topically with improved spreadability and stability.
The study developed and evaluated an emulgel for topical delivery of the antifungal drug fluconazole, using jojoba oil and liquid paraffin as carriers. Through a Central Composite Design, 14 formulations were tested, with formulations F1, F8, F7, and F14 achieving over 80% drug release within 3 hours. The study found that lower amounts of jojoba oil and liquid paraffin increased spreadability, while higher viscosity slowed drug release. The optimal formulation included 11.5% oil phase and 1.75% gelling agent, resulting in efficient drug release and improved spreadability. The emulgel showed potential as a topical delivery system, offering benefits like improved bioavailability, reduced side effects, and better stability compared to conventional oral forms.

Ketoconazole 2% shampoo stopped a user's severe hair shedding after just two uses, a result not achieved by finasteride or oral minoxidil. Some users suggest the shampoo's anti-androgenic properties may help with hair loss, while others think the shedding might have stopped naturally or due to the end of a shedding phase.
