TLDR Clove oil effectively treats cattle dermatophytosis in 7 days.
The study investigated the prevalence, risk factors, diagnosis, and alternative treatments for dermatophytosis in cattle around Parbhani over a year. The prevalence was found to be 17.2%, with the most affected being 4 to 8-year-old non-descript male cattle. Dermatophytosis presented as crusty, whitish-grey lesions with focal alopecia, primarily on the hump, neck, and back. Trichophyton verrucosum was the most commonly isolated fungus. Hematological findings included granulocytosis, monocytosis, and lymphopenia. Treatment trials on 18 cattle showed that Clove oil led to recovery in 7 days, Cow urine distillate in an unspecified number of days, and Whitfield ointment in 19 days.
