TLDR The patient showed tumor stability and improved health using a new Periwinkle preparation with chemotherapy.
This case report discusses the treatment of a 40-year-old female with advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma using an integrated oncological approach that combines conventional chemotherapy with a novel Ayurvedic preparation of Catharanthus roseus (Periwinkle). The patient, who initially underwent 5 cycles of chemotherapy, experienced chemotherapy-induced alopecia and other side effects. To enhance treatment efficacy and manage toxicity, she received a novel preparation of C. roseus, known for its vinca alkaloids, alongside dietary modifications. Over 1.5 years, the patient showed consistent tumor stability, improved general health, weight gain from 51 to 57 kg, and better tolerance to cytotoxic stressors, with no significant adverse hematological changes.
