TLDR A new accurate method was developed to measure Minoxidil and Aminexil in solutions.
The study presents a validated HPTLC method for estimating Minoxidil and Aminexil in topical solutions, using silica gel 60 F254 pre-coated TLC aluminium plates and a methanol: water (5:5) solvent system. Densitometric analysis at 254 nm revealed Rf values of 0.88 for Aminexil and 0.69 for Minoxidil, with linearity between 2-10 μg/spot for Minoxidil and 6-14 μg/spot for Aminexil. The method demonstrated high precision and accuracy, with %RSD below 2% and regression coefficients of 0.9983 for Minoxidil and 0.9993 for Aminexil, meeting ICH criteria.
