Estrogen Hormone Therapy Stabilizes Lateral Hairline In Transfeminine Patients: Implications For Facial Feminization Surgery

Nghiem H. Nguyen, Jeremiah M. Taylor, Kelly X. Huang, Justine C. Lee
TLDR Estrogen therapy can help stabilize the hairline in transfeminine individuals.
The study suggests that in transfeminine patients assigned male at birth (AMAB), older age is typically associated with lateral hairline recession. However, for patients over 30 years old, each year of feminizing hormone therapy, specifically estrogen, is predicted to decrease the lateral forehead length by 0.07 cm. This finding indicates that estrogen hormone therapy may help stabilize the lateral hairline, which has implications for facial feminization surgery in these individuals.
