Eclipta alba, known as Bhringaraj, is a significant herb in Indian traditional medicine, used for its diverse therapeutic properties, including promoting hair growth and treating liver ailments. This review highlights its bioactive compounds like wedelolactone and their pharmacological activities, such as hepatoprotective and anticancer effects. Ethnobotanical surveys show its consistent use across various cultures for ailments like alopecia and skin disorders. Despite traditional and pharmacological evidence supporting its benefits, there are gaps in clinical validation and phytochemical standardization. The review advocates for interdisciplinary research to integrate traditional knowledge with biomedical studies while preserving the plant's biocultural heritage.
