Comparative Therapeutic Evaluation of an Ethnoveterinary Herbal Spray and Conventional Topical Antifungal Therapy for Bovine Dermatophytosis

The study compared the efficacy of an ethnoveterinary herbal spray with a conventional topical antifungal treatment for bovine dermatophytosis in 29 confirmed cases out of 137 screened cattle and buffaloes. The animals were divided into two groups, with one receiving a conventional antifungal formulation and the other the herbal spray. Both treatments led to significant improvements in haematological parameters, and mycological cure rates were 87.5% for the conventional therapy and 75.0% for the herbal spray. No adverse effects or relapses were observed during the 45-day follow-up. The results suggest that while the conventional therapy had a slightly higher cure rate, the herbal spray is a safe, cost-effective alternative for managing bovine dermatophytosis.
