Evaluation of antifungal potential of Cassia tora L. ointment in canine mycotic dermatitis

This study evaluated the antifungal potential of Cassia tora L. ointment in treating canine mycotic dermatitis. Out of 195 dogs screened, 20 with confirmed fungal dermatitis were selected and divided into two groups for treatment. The most prevalent pathogen was Microsporum spp. (42.5%), and clinical symptoms included pruritus, rough hair coat, and alopecia. The C. tora ointment showed moderate antifungal activity, with a 50% recovery rate by day 28, and hematobiochemical parameters remained stable. The study concluded that C. tora ointment is a safe and economical option for topical treatment of fungal dermatitis in dogs.
