TLDR Exosomes could improve skin and hair treatments, but more research and regulation are needed.
Exosomes, small extracellular vesicles, show promise in cosmetic dermatology for skin rejuvenation and hair restoration by enhancing cellular communication and modulating inflammation. Despite their potential, challenges such as inconsistent isolation methods, source variability, and the lack of FDA approval due to safety and efficacy concerns hinder their widespread adoption. The review emphasizes the need for standardized isolation techniques, comprehensive safety profiles, and extensive clinical trials to address these issues and advance the regulatory landscape for exosome use in cosmetic applications.
