TLDR PCAT1 and HOTAIR levels are lower in people with androgenic alopecia.
This study examined the expression levels of lncRNAs PCAT1 and HOTAIR in 180 individuals, including 90 patients with androgenic alopecia (AGA) and 90 healthy controls. It was found that both PCAT1 and HOTAIR expression levels were significantly lower in AGA patients compared to controls, with a P value of less than 0.001. A significant positive association between the expression levels of PCAT1 and HOTAIR was also observed among the patients. However, no significant correlation was found between gene expression and clinical data. These findings suggest that PCAT1 and HOTAIR may contribute to the pathogenesis of AGA.
