TLDR CTP-543 significantly improved eyebrow and eyelash regrowth and patient satisfaction in adults with alopecia areata.
The Phase 3 THRIVE-AA1 trial evaluated the efficacy of CTP-543 (Deuruxolitinib), an oral JAK1/JAK2 inhibitor, in promoting eyebrow and eyelash regrowth in adults with moderate to severe alopecia areata. The study involved 706 patients aged 18-65, who were randomized to receive either a placebo, 8 mg BID, or 12 mg BID of CTP-543 for 24 weeks. Results showed significant improvements in eyebrow and eyelash regrowth, as assessed by the Brigham Eyebrow Tool for Alopecia (BETA) and Brigham Eyelash Tool for Alopecia (BELA), with both doses of CTP-543 compared to placebo, starting at 12 weeks and continuing through 24 weeks (p <0.01). Additionally, patient satisfaction with eyebrow and eyelash regrowth, measured by a patient-reported outcome scale (QPRO), was significantly higher for both doses of CTP-543 compared to placebo over the same period.
