TLDR Family history affects hair loss severity and onset more in men than women.
The study analyzed the familial history of androgenetic alopecia (AGA) in Chinese patients, focusing on the pattern, age of onset, severity, and therapeutic effect of hair loss. It was found that male patients had a higher positive rate of AGA family history compared to females, with a significant genetic predisposition observed between fathers and sons. Male patients with a family history experienced more severe hair loss and an earlier onset than those without. However, family history had less impact on female patients and did not affect the therapeutic outcomes for AGA. The study concluded that family history influences the pattern and severity of alopecia differently across genders and kinship levels.
