TLDR The online low-carb program was feasible and acceptable for young women with obesity.
This pilot study assessed the feasibility and acceptability of an online very low-carbohydrate (VLC) diet intervention for young adult women with obesity. Seventeen women participated, with 14 reporting their body weight after 4 months. The study found that 50% of participants lost at least 5% of their body weight, and among those actively engaged, 86% achieved this weight loss. The intervention was well-received, with high satisfaction scores and no serious adverse events, although one participant experienced hair loss, which resolved after increasing carbohydrate intake. The study suggests that VLC diets could be a viable weight loss strategy for this demographic, but further research with a larger and more diverse sample is needed.
