TLDR Finasteride 1 mg reduces semen quality without affecting hormones.
This study investigated the effects of finasteride 1 mg/day on male fertility, involving 465 men aged 18–60 years, with 69 being finasteride users. The results showed that while finasteride users had similar metabolic and hormonal profiles to non-users, they experienced significant reductions in semen quality, including lower sperm concentration, total sperm count, and motile sperm count. Despite these impacts on sperm production and morphology, finasteride did not affect endocrine, sexual, or psychological functions. The study highlights finasteride's silent impact on male fertility despite preserved hormonal balance.
