TLDR Finasteride can help with hair loss and prostate issues but may negatively affect mood and the nervous system.
This study investigates the chemical-quantum interactions of Finasteride (FNT) with neurotransmitters and its role in psychopathology using in silico methods. The research highlights both the beneficial effects of FNT in treating benign prostatic hyperplasia and alopecia, and its adverse effects on mood and the nervous system. Utilizing the Electron Transfer Coefficient theory and Hyperchem software, the study finds that FNT interferes with neurotransmitters, increasing psychopathological effects when it breaks down into a carboxylic acid analogous to Cortisol (ACTS), a strong oxidizing agent. Additionally, FNT is identified as a good antioxidant for amino acids and is not mutagenic to nitrogenous bases, including nucleic acids.
