TLDR Combining fluticasone propionate and UV-A is more effective for vitiligo than using either alone.
The study aimed to compare the efficacy and safety of a combination of fluticasone propionate (FP) and UV-A versus either treatment alone for vitiligo over 9 months. Conducted at the Netherlands Institute for Pigmentary Disorders, it involved 135 patients, with 96 completing the study. Results showed that the combination treatment was 3 times more effective in achieving repigmentation than either FP or UV-A alone. No adverse effects were reported, and no atrophy was observed in the FP group, while minimal atrophy was noted in the UV-A group. The study concluded that the combination treatment was significantly more effective, with large individual differences, and all treatments appeared safe for long-term use.
