TLDR Many patients miss follow-ups due to financial issues, no insurance, transport problems, and time limits.
The study at Travis Park Dermatology Clinic in San Antonio analyzed follow-up rates and healthcare barriers among patients. Out of 681 patients, 49 needed follow-ups, but only 20 complied. Surveys identified financial concerns, lack of insurance, limited transportation, and time constraints as major barriers. Notably, 73.5% of patients were uninsured. To improve follow-up rates, the clinic implemented a system to remind patients of their appointments. These barriers contribute to delayed care and poorer health outcomes.
