A Transcriptome Sequencing Study on Genome-Wide Gene Expression Differences of Lung Cancer Cells Modulated by Fucoidan

    This study investigated the effects of fucoidan on lung cancer cells using transcriptome sequencing analysis. Fucoidan significantly inhibited lung cancer cell phenotypes, such as adhesion, proliferation, and migration, at a concentration of 1 mg/ml, without affecting normal cells. The study identified 6,930 differentially expressed genes, with 3,501 up-regulated and 3,429 down-regulated. Gene Ontology analysis showed these genes were involved in DNA replication, cell cycle regulation, apoptosis, and cell adhesion. The findings suggested that fucoidan could be a potential therapeutic agent for lung cancer treatment by modulating gene expression related to tumor progression.
